If Mark Twain were still living in Connecticut today, he might have a hard time finding anything to criticize about the competitive salaries for early childhood education jobs. The state boasts the country’s highest average pay for elementary special education teachers, and the second-highest for preschool special education teachers and kindergarten teachers. New Haven, Stamford, and Hartford are three areas where the salaries may be highest. Preschool teachers and preschool education administrators may find less competitive pay than other specialties, but the average still ranks among the top 20 compared to other states.
